Terms and Conditions

Some of our service providers require us to publish terms and conditions. These are fairly standard for galleries and practising artists. As is now required by law for all businesses, even very small ones on the edge of the world, a General Data Protection Regulation privacy notice is set out on a separate page.

Privacy

We do not share any personal or transactional details with third parties and comply with PayPal's privacy policy. We do not share data on any social media platforms. 

Payment

Payment for paintings must be received before despatch of goods. Customers can pay using PayPal/credit card through the link on the website, all major credit cards over the telephone or in the studio, by cheque or by bank transfer. Cheques should be made payable to W.J. Swann.

Delivery

All work is sent out framed and the frame is included in the puchase price. Packing and delivery costs are included in the purchase price for all UK regions. We use Royal Mail guaranteed delivery and Parcelforce, both of which need to be "signed for". We can time deliveries to arrive on specific days subject to carrier delays beyond our control. Delivery outside the UK may incur an additional charge and overseas customers must contact us before purchase.

Receipt of goods

On receipt of goods please check them thoroughly to ensure no damage has occurred during transit. Please do not accept or sign for anything before checking.

Returns

On request, we will provide as much information as possible to support purchases direct from the studio and via the website (see final paragraph). If you are not entirely happy with your purchase you can return it to us immediately and receive a full refund. We must receive the returned artwork no later then 14 days after delivery to you. Artwork must be returned to us in the same condition it arrived in and in its original packaging. Therefore, it is in the customer's own interests to ensure every sensible precaution is taken to ensure key packaging components are not lost and that artwork is not damaged. Please contact us on 01471 844403 or w.j.swann@talk21.com to let us know if you wish to return an artwork and we will be happy to advise on a suitable method of transit. If the item is to be returned by post a "signed for" delivery service is recommended. Please note that return delivery can take up to seven days so ensure you allow for this. The cost of returning the item will be the customer's responsibility. We will refund the cost of your purchase as soon as we have received and checked the item.

Damaged goods

If goods have been damaged in transit please do not accept them. Please return them with the courier and let us know immediately. Unfortunately, we cannot give any refunds if you accept the goods unchecked and subsequently discover they are damaged. If damaged goods where liablilty lies with the courier are returned to us outside this arrangement we will not be able to give a refund.

Guide to buying art direct from the artist

Buying art is very personal and emotive. Consequently, we try to make the process as easy as possible. The images on this website are watermarked to prevent illegal copying. If you have an interest in a particular piece, we recommend that you contact us to request a high resolution image, which can be enlarged to see detail. In addition, we recommend an image of the painting in its frame. Some customers find it helpful to have detail images taken in a cross-light to emphasise texture. As most of the work is completed with a painting knife, texture plays a part in enjoyment of the painting. We recommend where possible using Apple devices to view work.
