Buying On-line

With the increase in on-line business, please consider the following advice. Buying art is very personal and emotive. Consequently, we try to make the process as easy as possible. The images on this website are watermarked to prevent illegal copying. If you have an interest in a particular painting, we recommend that you contact us to request a high resolution image, which can be enlarged to see detail. In addition, we recommend an image of the painting in its frame. Some customers also find it helpful to have detail images taken in cross-light to emphasise texture. We recommend where possible using Apple devices to view images.

Privacy

We do not share any personal or transactional details with third parties and comply with PayPal’s privacy policy. We do not share data on any social media platforms.

Payment

Payment for paintings must be received before despatch of goods. Payment can be made using PayPal and all major credit cards through the website, by credit card in the studio or by telephone, by cheque or by bank transfer. Cheques should be made payable to W.J.Swann.

Delivery

Work is sent out framed and the frame is included in the purchase price. Packing and delivery costs are free for all UK regions. We use Royal Mail guaranteed delivery and Parcelforce, both of which need to be “signed for”. We can arrange deliveries for specific days subject to carrier delays beyond our control. Delivery outside the UK will incur an additional charge and for overseas delivery please contact us before purchase.

Greetings Cards: packing and delivery costs within the UK are included in the price.  

Receipt of Goods

On receipt of goods please check them thoroughly to ensure there has been no damage during transit. Please do not accept or sign for anything before checking for damage.

Returns

On-line purchases: as set out in consumer protection legislation, if for any reason you are unhappy with your painting on receipt, please let us know as soon as possible and within 14 days. Artwork must be returned to us in the same condition it arrived in and in its original packaging. If the item is to be returned by post a “signed-for” delivery service is recommended. As we use a premium delivery service, the cost of returning the item will be your responsibility. We will refund the cost of your purchase as soon as we have received and checked the item.

Purchases from the studio: returns are at our discretion.

Damaged Goods

Paintings are wrapped and boxed securely for despatch. However, please contact us as soon as possible if any damage is evident on unpacking. We may be able to resolve some issues without you having to return the painting to us.

Republic of Ireland

Brexit is an unwelcome complication affecting many small businesses and fine art exports to the Republic attract an import tariff of 13.5% payable by the purchaser on delivery. We do not want our Irish customers to be disadvantaged so please contact us prior to purchasing work.  Northern Ireland is unaffected.
