Since 2018 I have concentrated on holding studio and on-line exhibitions, which allow me to have direct contact with purchasers. In my experience, most collectors like to engage with the artist which is often not possible with gallery exhibitions, particularly as I live in such a remote area.

Education:

I studied art to A level after which I studied anatomical and life drawing and painting with Robert Callender, under the direction of David Michie in an intercalated study course at Edinburgh College of Art during my time at Edinburgh University.

Prior to 2007 I worked in the charitable sector, in many parts of the developing world including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Guatemala and Egypt. Experiences in these countries have had a profound effect on my painting. I have always painted and since 2007 have made painting my full-time profession. All artists have to develop their own style through practise and hard work, but I cannot overstate the value of guidance and practical support from professional “critical friends”.

I am an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
